I couldn't agree more with so much of what you say here.

My saddest/most hilarious Instagram photo shoot happened on the Charles Bridge in Prague. We were living there for a month and since I also loathe crowds, I was getting up before sunrise to have a wander around town and taking pictures, something I absolutely love doing. (And I've got 37,000 photos in Adobe Lightroom to prove it! LOL)

It turns out that in winter there is often a mist that rises off the river right at sunrise if the temp is right around freezing, which it was in late Oct/early November. One morning I'm down at the bridge just as the sun is rising and there is a young woman in a sheer red dress perched in the middle of the bridge trying to get the perfect Instagrammable photo. Her boyfriend (?) was taking the photos as she spun back and forth over and over. I could barely feel my hands, so I cannot imagine how cold she was!

Apparently 250 people die per year in selfie related deaths - I wonder if any of them are from being utterly freezing. You're right, it's sad.

And woah, 37k photos! You must have some great shots. I'm not a natural photographer at all, I don't really like taking them, which sometimes I see as a good thing!

And I've read those stats about people dying. Just awful.

That 37K is just in Lightroom and that I've edited. I won't admit to how many I have in Google storage. LOL. Even though I'm by no means a professional, photography has become something I love, not just for the pictures but because taking pics in places far from Westminster Abbey et al has taken me into all kinds of places I might never have gone. Oh, I don't deny love getting a shot of Big Ben here in London with a gorgeous sunset behind it, but I've also loved just exploring and photographing the streets of Croydon, which definitely isn't on anyone's Instagrammable checklist!

Don't get me wrong, I have the odd Big Ben-sunset esque photo on my phone too! I'm just not that bothered about spending 30 minutes getting it perfect.

I saw you were in Croydon right now. No, definitely not on anyone's checklist, but interesting scenes play out everywhere
