I really appreciate this refreshing view of what some might call a lack of focus or commitment. I’ve done a variety of things and sometimes feel bad that I did not make a “career” out of any of them. Still, I’ve had interesting jobs, met some really good people, had cool experiences, and have mostly been happy with my life. How is that not a successful life?

That's an interesting point. I think focus - in that way - is overrated. Bring on the cool experiences and interesting jobs!

I feel that, Dakota! I like the idea of my life being a "non-stitchable timeline" rather than a lack of commitment to the umpteen various things I've attempted. If money really is everything, then why do my rich friends look envious when I share my adventures? 😁 I've got something better then money - the courage to live my life to the fullest!

You're friend sounds like the best kind of person to share a coffee with! Would love to hear the stories they have to tell.

I love this! I want to be the person who has a weird and interesting story to tell, I want evidence of a life well lived and I completely resonate with simple living giving you more options. The freedom is, well, freeing! Thanks Charlie :)

I agree that living a fun and varied life is not solely money dependent - to a point. However, some form of hard investment is required, whether that be in developing one's own skill set or smart savings and investment (FI/RE movement stuff). But overall, I agree the most interesting people are the ones who've done a lot of unrelated stuff and still managed to keep going.

"I love meeting people like this because it’s a healthy reminder that the thing we’re all told we must have before we start to live life to the fullest - money - is not what will get us there"

Agree so much with this, also, the people who have these sorts of interesting lives, have lived them with gusto and have the stories to tell. You can't stitch the story together because it is not all on social media and their timeline is not obvious. You want to hear their stories, first hand. Which is so much more real and human.
