Simple Living Resources I Couldn't Live Without
Each one step-changed my life into something almost unrecognisable
If you find value in this weekly letter, feel free to share with friends and family who you think might enjoy a dose of simplicity every Friday.
Living with less isn’t life’s easiest path. But it’s made much easier when you have the right resources at your fingertips.
In the spirit of being minimal, I’ve narrowed down my favorite simple living resources to just five. Five bloggers, podcasters, and resources, all of which cost nothing or near-to-nothing and yet add value like nothing else.
The Minimalists
Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus are the guys that made living with less cool. I’ve been listening to their podcasts, watching their films, and reading their essays for close to 10 years now and with good reason - their content is incredible.
They’re still going strong today and their podcast is still my go-to on a run or whilst I’m erranding around town.
Becoming Minimalist
I love the way Joshua Becker writes. He has this beautiful way with prose that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Even though he’s been at this gig for a while, his content still feels super fresh and engaging, like he’s finding something new about simple living every week, and sharing it with his audience.
Medium
If you want to learn about what people’s lives are really like when they live more simply, Medium is a great place to go. Because this is the platform for the indie writer. The ones who don’t just lay out the facts, but mine for content from their own lives, making their stories richer and more personal. More relatable.
And it’s not just simple living. There are countless writers talking about everything that surrounds The Good Simple Life. How to live intentionally. How to live within your means (and have a good time doing it). How to find meaning and joy in the everyday.
Here are some of my favorite writers on there who will occasionally talk about simple living (among other things):
Paula Pant ‘Afford Anything’ podcast
Paula hosts one of my favourite personal finance podcasts. Because, let’s face it, personal finances are a key part (if not the most important part) of living a simpler life.
The message is you can afford anything, but not everything. Everything in life is a choice and by saying yes to one thing, you’re saying no to something else. So how do you choose?
Paula comes from a FIRE (Financial Independence Retire Early) perspective but she’s more flexible than some of the other key players in the movement so her advice is solid, regardless of where you stand on financial independence.

Bullet journal
I think I might be in love with my bullet journal. If you’ve not heard of it before, a bullet journal is a rapid-style way of journaling, developed by a dude called Ryder Carroll.
As well as daily journaling, it’s also a place to organize yourself. Habit and mood trackers, birthday calendars, setting intentions, recording gratitudes. Even a plan for decluttering your home. Anything you like.
Some people don’t think they can bullet journal because they see these beautifully creative journals online. Take it from someone without an artistic bone in their body, it’s not about how it looks, it’s about what it does for your life. You’re building your own personalized life resource that can fit in your backpack.
Check out the basics of how to bullet journal.
Hopefully, you get as much out of these resources as I do.
Have you got any resources you rely on for the Good Life? Let me know!
Much love,
Charlie
